Rockwell sets up cybersecurity centre and adds partners

09 November, 2021

Rockwell Automation has set up a Cybersecurity Operations Center in Israel to deliver remote cybersecurity services to customers around the world. The centre is one of several moves that that Rockwell has announced to bolster its cybersecurity activities, including partnerships with the cybersecurity specialists Dragos and CrowdStrike.

The establishment of the cybersecurity centre follows Rockwell’s acquisitions last year of Avnet, an Israeli cybersecurity provider with more than 20 years of experience, and Oylo, a Spanish cybersecurity services provider based in Barcelona. Rockwell also has existing partnerships with Claroty and Cisco.

Rockwell says that the new initiatives will help its customers to adopt a more proactive approach to cybersecurity before, during and after cyberattacks.

“Implementing strong cybersecurity is no longer a best practice, but a must-do,” says Rachael Conrad, Rockwell vice-president and general manager of its Global Services business. “For manufacturers, protection starts with a rock-solid foundation of OT expertise. That’s why we’re doubling down on our cybersecurity investment to build the most robust, specialised IT/OT cybersecurity offering in the market.”

Rockwell’s partnership with Dragos will combine Rockwell’s industry, application and ICS expertise with Dragos’ technologies and services. They will focus on incident response and threat intelligence. The partners says that their combined capabilities will increase the speed with which customers can assess and remediate cybersecurity threats. Rockwell and Dragos experts will also join forces to offer threat intelligence.

“Our investment and partnership with Dragos will help our industrial automation customers achieve their connected enterprise by providing a safe and secure OT infrastructure,” says Conrad. “As the frequency and severity of cybersecurity threats continue to rise in our industry, it’s critical that automation leaders partner with cybersecurity leaders to share expertise and co-innovate on ways to protect our customers.”

Conrad: cybersecurity is a must-do

Rockwell’s partnership with CrowdStrike, which specialises in cloud-delivered end-point and workload protection, will result in end-to-end cybersecurity and network services. The partners will examine ways of combining CrowdStrike’s AI-powered Falcon cloud platform with Rockwell capabilities to help users to address cybersecurity “pain points”.

According to Conrad, the CrowdStrike partnership will enable Rockwell to provide “integrated, end-to-end industrial security services and solutions across the entire customer cybersecurity journey, from threat detection through response and recovery from cyber-incidents."
