Chinese SPS show is postponed following Coronavirus outbreak

29 January, 2020

The organisers of SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou (SIAF), which was due to take place in Guangzhou, China, next month, have announced that the exhibition has been postponed following the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus epidemic. The Guangdong Province Department of Commerce has suspended all large-scale events in the region in response to the outbreak,.

SIAF, and the concurrent Asiamold fair, had been scheduled to take place from 26 – 28 February at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou. The organisers say that the events have been postponed until further notice and that new dates for the fairs will be announced in due course.

“The well-being of all our stakeholders is paramount, so following the announcement by the Guangdong government to strengthen the epidemic prevention efforts by suspending all large-scale trade and economic events, we immediately began taking steps to postpone these two fairs to a later date,” says Hubert Duh, chairman of Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt, on behalf of the fairs’ co-organisers. “We are in communication with the relevant government authorities and venue owners about rescheduling the fairs later this year, but due to the evolving situation in the country, it is too early to provide any details on this.”

SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou (SIAF) is a sister event to SPS Smart Production Solutions held each November in Nuremburg, Germany. Last year, SIAS and Asiamold together attracted 988 exhibitors from 20 countries, and 98,776 visitors from 45 countries.

Last year, the SPS – Industrial Automation Fair Guangzhou, and Asiamold, shows attracted almost 100,000 visitors

SIAF is co-organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt, China Foreign Trade Guangzhou Exhibition General Corporation, Guangzhou Overseas Trade Fairs and Mesago Messe Frankfurt.

Exhibitors or visitors with any queries about SIAF should email sps@china.messefrankfurt.com.
